During 9 night 10 days cruise (7/23/24 to 8/2/24 - room # 262), everything was good (clean room, kindly staffs and atmosphere) EXCEPT 1 big problem. Toilet didn’t work 2 TIMES for several hours each time. Next cruise, we are planning to book newer ship. Anyway we enjoyed Alaska cruise. Thank you.

Service and food in the restaurants were good but on several occasions the wait for coffee was too long. The food in the buffet was good but the wait for the pasta station was way too long. The bartenders in the lounges were very good especially in the Atrium lounge. Our stateroom attendant was excellent. Friends of ours had the beverage package and had a problem with ordering an Irish Coffee. One bar was charging an upgrade for using Starbucks coffee but it was supposed to be included in the package.

NCL Sun Alaska Cruise

Pros: Easy to get around the ship. High quality entertainment in the theater as well as the smaller venues.

Cons: The Garden buffet is not large enough. Extra seating is available in adjoining areas a short walk away. Also the intercom announcements are only in the common areas not staterooms.

We like the ships size. The decor is very nice. All of the staff are very friendly and helpful! The communication paper we received every evening was very helpful for attending entertainment venues as well as planning for the next day’s stop. I would like to see at least 8 hours for all ports of call. We had 2 stops that were about 4 hours on shore due to our schedule and distance to travel. Understandable but maybe a rearrangement would eliminate one stop in favor of more time at the other.

Cons: Disappointed they changed the liquor level meaning no grey goose with liquor package. Worst was the bars ran out of the next level titis so was not happy with that.

Staff was wonderful as always. Immaculate in all areas. Will be cruising soon again. The classical music in Atrium bar was tiring after awhile.

Panama Canal Journey

Pros: Wonderful trip, excellent service, great food, quality beverages for the all-inclusive beverage program, very reasonable prices for the specialty dining options, suburb cabin services, and of course, great trip through the canal and the 6 shore excursions between LA and Miami.

Cons: Suggest the specialty restaurants decorate more to the style of the cuisine; Italian, Brazilian, French, along with background music and dress code for the staff.

Fun trip. Our first time with NCL, and would definitely use them again on another venue. We're Diamond level with Royal Caribbean, and I would say NCL out performs them in many ways, especially with the talent of the evening shows. We actually scheduled our evenings to be sure we did not miss one. Nice job!

We had the greatest time on the Sun. It was our first time on a cruise, first time to visit Alaska and this trip set the bar very high for our future travel. The food was varied, plentiful, and inviting. The service staff left nothing to be desired and were always available to provide any missing or desired items. Caution should be used around using the WiFi on the ship. Even though you don't sign up to use their on-board network, I was charged via "roaming' charges by the ship to my carrier who passed it on to me. Excursions were super and were as high class as the ship. Whale watching, train rides, and port tours were all set up by the ship and were as expected -- EXELLENT!

We loved our cruise, however, we were with a group of people, and everyone had the same complaint, terrible coffee!! A few of our group are involved in food service operations, and another common complaint was not as much variety as expected for buffet meals. Food was very repetitious. Not sure why no Alaskan seafood was offered when it was an Alaskan cruise ?? We did have the best waitress ever, I only know her nickname, Pony tail, she goes out of her way to ensure all guests are enjoying their vacation!!

Food needs to have little bit more salt; it was too plain for our taste. No Halal/Kosher meat available. However, they did make the effort to have Indian veggie dishes but none of them had any meat so it was only catered for vegans. Staff was very courteous and Ian the cruise director was the Star of the ship. Entertainment and shows were excellent. our family was really sad the last day of the trip as our dream vacation was coming to an end.

When you have such beautiful views, it is hard to be negative about anything. To be honest though, the ship needs updating, starting to look worn. The food is okay, after all you get what you pay for. I believe on this segment of the world with Norwegian , most cruisers are not as much into the on board entertainment as they are into the outdoors. Many bird and whale watchers with impressive cameras. So if you are there to party hard, you are on the wrong ship. Great overall nature trip.

Poor tour on Peru and Arica, Chile. Excellent celebrations of crossing equator and Cape Horn and departure night. Ship needs refurbishing, especially carpeting.

Pros: Lots of wonderful dining choices that are worth any extra you must pay for them.

Cons: Tacky in a few ways. -- Afternoon tea should NOT be served in paper cups.

The total experience was way better than we anticipated. A lovely ship with a wonderful, friendly crew. Again, the specialty restaurants and the production numbers by the singers and dancers were some of the best we have ever experienced.

This line seemed to have a greater cross section of ages and socioeconomics than other lines I have cruised on. There were a number of people from countries other than the USA or Canada so their idea of how to stand in line differed from mine. The ship looked huge but it didn't seem so big when on board.

The live entertainment shows were awesome. The excursions were worth their price. The ship is spotless and their crew is determined to make your stay on their ship the best experience you can have.

Pros: Service was very good on board the ship. Very attentive staff in the dining rooms and cabin stewards.

Cons: Ship design leaves much to be desired. Very congested in the buffet area

The design of the ship is poor. The buffet area has one continuous line where people cut in to get the food they want. It would be much easier if the ship had separate stations for the different types of foods offered, e.g., a salad bar area and a dessert area. An area for meats and one for cold cuts. Royal Caribbean's ships are set up well NCL should take a look at how they do it. The only way to reach the buffet from the forward part of the ship is to either take the elevators or stairs to the 11th deck and then walk outside to get to the buffet. Great if you are in the Caribbean and there is no rain, not so good while cruising Alaska and it is cold or pouring rain. Not much to do on the ship during the daytime. Almost everything has an additional cost. the events at night are held to late at 10:15 P.M. They have dance classes offered at 6:00 P.M. those classes would be better at 3:00 P.M. and hold the parties at 7:30 P.M. Open the dance floor (what little there is) at 10:00 P.M. The cruise staff totally takes over the floor at 10:30 trying to get everyone out to jump around. Now the plusses - the wait staff and the cabin stewards were very nice and friendly and did an excellent job. Great service and attentive. The itinerary was good and the ports and excursions were good. If the ships were designed like Royal Caribbean's ships the trip would have been much better. Also not enough to do during the day.
