Exploring Koh Samui Island
On arrival at the port of Koh Samui, disembark and meet your guide. Drive to Wat Khunaram, home to the mummified body of a monk named Luang Phaw Daeng, preserved sitting in a meditative pose with few signs of any major decay. Stop for refreshments at the impressive Na Muang 1 Waterfall which cascades 18m (59ft) into a natural pool below. Next, visit the Grandma and Grandpa rock formations before enjoying a Thai set lunch at a local restaurant. Continue to the Ladd Koh Viewpoint for panoramic views of famed Chaweng Beach, followed by a visit to Wat Phra Yai located on a hill on a small rocky island to see the 15m (49ft) high “Big Buddha” statue as well as a beautiful view of the surrounding area. Along the way back to Nathon, the capital of Koh Samui, there are many stands selling handicrafts such as batiks and products made from seashells and coconut shells as souvenirs.
